Children 1ST Ambassadors

The Children 1st Ambassador program is a career exploration program for low-resourced, mostly minority middle school students, rooted in two service-learning projects. Students either self-select or are referred by teachers to become an Ambassador.

Ambassador Locations:

  • Children 1st Ambassador Program North End Campus

  • 2023 N. Arkansas, Wichita 67203

  • Children 1st Ambassador Program East Campus

  • 3205 E Grand St, Wichita, KS 67218

The Ambassador program includes:

  • Two service-learning projects per year: fall food drive for Beef Up the Pantry and spring Ambassador’s choice (they pick, fundraise, and complete the project).

  • Often professionals, who identify as Hispanic or Asian, volunteer to speak about their career journey, with emphasis on STEAM careers.

  • One college campus tour in the spring

  • One parent night at each participating school is held annually to explain how college works and savings plans in Kansas that match money.

  • Connecting with the WSU programs for first generation college students to speak about their journey.
